Why the status matters more than the licence name
A licence name on its own does not tell you what you may do with a dataset. What matters in practice is a three-way question: may this be republished, may it be republished on conditions, or may it only be linked to? The registry stores that answer next to every source, and the pipeline enforces it — so the distinction is not editorial policy that someone might forget, it is a build failure if it is broken.
This has visible consequences on the site. Some pages show a figure outright; some show a fact and send you to the publisher for the detail; some tell you the data exists but is not ours to reproduce. That inconsistency is the licences showing through, and it is preferable to the alternative, which is copying material this site has no right to copy and hoping nobody checks.
If you are reusing anything from this site, follow the source link on the page you took it from and check the licence at first hand — the entry here records what was true when the licence was last verified (3 September 2026), not what is true today.

The scheme is officially named the Paramedic, Nursing and Midwifery Student Bursary (PNMSB) — the commonly assumed label 'NMTF' does not match current official terminology — and is administered by the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS), with the Scottish Government commissioning the pre-registration nursing/midwifery programmes it funds. £10,000/year (non-means-tested) for years 1-3, £7,500 in a 4th (honours) year, plus a one-off £60 Initial Expenses Allowance.

No Open Government Licence or Crown-copyright statement is made here, despite the site being run by NHS England — unlike NHS Digital's separately OGL-licensed workforce statistics. Only underlying facts (Agenda for Change band and starting-salary figures, apprenticeship route durations, course-finder result counts) are reused, attributed to NHS Health Careers with a link back; role-description prose is written in this site's own words rather than copied, and page text, layout or illustrations from healthcareers.nhs.uk are not reproduced.

Only the numeric bursary figures (the £1,000 non-means-tested grant, the means-tested bursary up to £4,491, and the published means-test reduction table) are reused here as facts, attributed to NWSSP with a link back; NWSSP's page text, tables and layout are not reproduced. - NHSBSA's own website terms and conditions (checked live at nhsbsa.nhs.uk) state content from the NHSBSA website 'is covered by NHSBSA copyright. Visitors can download material in accordance with the Open Government Licence', with a required attribution format ('[Title of Information], NHSBSA Copyright [year]'). However, the specific page cited here — the course-eligibility FAQ — is hosted on a separate knowledge-base subdomain (faq.nhsbsa.nhs.uk, a Zendesk-style help centre) whose own footer states only a generic 'Copyright © 2026. All rights reserved.' with no OGL statement or link found on that page. NMC approved programmes directory

- Same NMC website terms as the standards/register-data entry apply here. The approved-programmes directory is a searchable database, not a 'rule, standard or guidance' document, so the clause 6.3 reproduction carve-out is not asserted to cover it — clauses 6.2 and 6.4 (personal/internal use only; no republication without permission) govern instead. The results listing is gated behind a POST submission carrying an ASP.NET __RequestVerificationToken (confirmed by reading the live form's DOM and by a raw GET to the identical query string, which returned only the empty search template rather than results), but individual programme records at /education/approved-programmes/approved-programme/{id}/ are reachable by plain unauthenticated GET and return full structured fields (institution, programme title, course details/level, institution website, training type, course code, a 'compliant with standards post-2018' flag) — confirmed for id=1, id=100 and id=5884, with populated ids running roughly 1 through the high teens of thousands before returning an empty template. No bulk Approved Education Institution or programme list (CSV/PDF) is published anywhere on nmc.org.uk; only per-institution/per-programme PDF approval reports, indexed alphabetically. Given no explicit reproduction permission is granted for this dataset, only individual factual programme-approval status (course exists, is NMC-approved, at which institution) is used here, attributed to NMC with a link back to the specific programme record; the directory is not bulk-mirrored or scraped wholesale without further permission being sought.

NMC register data reports, pre-registration standards and registration codes

- NMC's website terms and conditions (checked live, last updated 17 December 2015) state at clause 6.1 that NMC and/or its licensors own copyright in all Information on the site; clause 6.2 permits only personal or internal-organisational use (printing, downloading, on-screen viewing — not republication); clause 6.4 forbids adapting, reproducing, republishing or creating derivative works from Information generally. Clause 6.3 carves out an explicit exception for 'the content of any of our rules, standards and guidance', which may be reproduced in part or in full provided the most up-to-date version is used, the meaning is not altered, NMC is credited as author, and a link back is provided — this clearly covers the Part 3 Standards for pre-registration nursing programmes (republished 25 April 2023) and, arguably, the registration/qualification codes page. The annual 'NMC register' data report is a statistical report rather than a rule, standard or guidance document, so clause 6.3's carve-out is not asserted to cover it with confidence; its figures (register totals, field-of-practice breakdowns, year-on-year growth) are used here as attributed facts rather than reproduced tables or charts, with a link back to the source PDF — the same treatment this registry gives other UK regulator data with no open licence.

Northern Ireland Department of Health nursing and midwifery bursary
- Conditions of reuse
- No Department of Health (Northern Ireland) primary page describing the DoH-funded nursing/midwifery bursary could be located during this research pass; the only working citation found is Queen's University Belfast's own fees-and-finance page, which describes DoH-funded courses (adult, children's/young people's, mental health, learning disability nursing, and midwifery) and bursary rates. No copyright statement, licence link or 'all rights reserved' notice could be found on that page, or via a site-wide terms-and-conditions page, during this session, so no licence is asserted either way. Only the factual bursary amount (£5,165/year, non-means-tested, for students who commenced 2024-25) and the fact that tuition is paid in full by DoH are used here as attributed facts with a link back; QUB's page text is not reproduced. This entry should be revisited if a primary health-ni.gov.uk or hscbusiness.hscni.net source describing the bursary directly is found.

Royal College of Nursing membership and professional body information
- Conditions of reuse
- RCN's 'Legal' page (checked live, last updated 1 March 2022) covers a disclaimer, an external-links policy and a notice-and-take-down process, but states no licence or explicit reproduction terms; the site footer asserts only '© 2026 Royal College of Nursing'. No page granting or expressly prohibiting reuse of RCN content could be found in this session, and robots.txt disallows only internal Sitecore paths, not content directories. In the absence of either an open licence or an explicit no-reproduction clause, only organisational facts (RCN's self-description as a professional body/trade union, and the existence and category of its 'nursing support worker' membership tier covering nursing associates) are used here as attributed facts with a link back to RCN; RCN's own wording and page layout are not reproduced.

Using these figures elsewhere
Where the underlying source is openly licensed, you are free to reuse the figure with attribution to the original publisher — not to this site. Crediting this site instead of the publisher would strip the licence obligation, which is the one thing the whole registry exists to prevent.

If you spot a licence here that has changed, say so — a stale licence record is a more serious error on this site than a stale number.
